Jugwon "Jay"  Noh 

Dr. Jugwon “Jay” Noh is an Adjunct Associate Professor at Austin Community College. He earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Chung-Ang University in South Korea, where he studied with Prof. Hyekyoung Lee. Dr. Noh completed his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in Piano Performance at the University of Texas at Austin under the tutelage of Prof. Gregory Allen.

 

Dr. Noh has won prizes in various music competitions, including first prizes both in the Haneum Music Competition and The Music Association of Korea Competition, and second prizes in both The Piano Duo Association of Korea Competition and The Czerny Association of Korea Competition. Dr. Noh has performed both as a soloist and collaborator, participating in events like the Clear Creek Music Festival in Oregon and learning from renowned musicians in masterclasses. He is also a founding member of the Amicus Piano Duo, known for their diverse classical music performances. The ensemble aims to celebrate the diversity of classical music and inspire audiences with their concert series.

In addition to his performance career, Dr. Noh is a passionate educator who enjoys all aspects of piano teaching. He has established a private piano studio in Austin for students of all ages and levels. His students have earned prizes in local, state, national, and international competitions. He received the Excellence in Teaching Award at the Carmel Arts International Competition in 2022, 2023, and 2024, and the Steinway Top Piano Teacher Award in 2024.

 

Dr. Noh recently concluded a successful lecture recital at the Butler School of Music and his proposals have been selected for presentations and lecture recitals at many regional, national, and international conferences such as the TMTA Convention, MTNA Collegiate Symposium, and College Music Society Conference. 

 

He has also been invited to judge the TMTA All-Star Festival, Carmel Arts International Competition, Baroque/Classical Festival, Romantic/Contemporary Festival, and serves as a faculty member at the Austin Chamber Music Center.
